Village views, floral still lifes, interiors and landscapes form the oeuvre of the Amsterdam painter and graphic artist Wilhelm Jansen. He received his training as an artist at various institutions in the capital, including: at the Rijksacademie (Reich Academy). For many years he lived particularly north of Amsterdam, in Wormerveer and Westzaan. It is clear from his work that he had lost his heart to the surrounding polder landscape. Willem Jansen achieved v. a. known through his etchings from the Zandstreek, the area around Westzaan.
